Alberta remains one of the best choices for families and individuals looking to immigrate to Canada. A robust economic environment, together with a multicultural landscape and ample opportunities for growth makes this Western Canadian province one of the best choices for those looking to settle in Canada.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was launched to assist those who are going to immigrate to Alberta. The prime objective of the program is to allow talented professionals to settle down in Alberta and contribute to the growth and development of the region.
In 2018, the AINP was revamped to replace the Employer-Driven Stream and Strategic Recruitment Stream with the Alberta Opportunity Stream, a brand new initiative. Along with this the Alberta Express Entry Stream was also introduced, together with the already existing Self-Employed Farmer Stream.
In order to qualify under this stream, an individual must be currently residing in Alberta and be associated with a profession that is not on the AOS ineligibility list. Together with this they must also hold a valid permit to work in Alberta and have the minimum required full-time work experience.
For any profession an individual must hold the required licensing or certification proving ability for the job. They must also have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer and have minimum CLB of 4 in either English or French. There will be further planned changes for the program which will be implemented next year and the year after.
Minimum educational requirement for this stream is a high school diploma.
For eligibility under this stream persons of foreign nationality must be included in the Federal Express Entry Pool. Under this stream Alberta is allowed to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates. Candidates who have strong ties to Alberta or international graduates from Canadian institutes are also eligible.
It should be remembered that only selected candidates asked to submit an application will be considered under this stream. After receiving the Notification of Interest letter from Alberta the receiver must email a copy of the same to the AINP, which may ask the candidate to submit an application. For selection the candidate must meet the required eligibility criteria.
An applicant must have farm management skills in order to be eligible under this stream. Proper documentation proving the existence of a farming business, together with proof of sufficient funding must be provided. Candidates must be able to invest at least 500,000 Canadian Dollars in Alberta to be considered under this scheme.
